United Nation's First Ever Group Art Exhibit on Global Food Safety Featuring Liu Bolin
“We Are What We Eat” features works from Liu Bolin and other international artists.

The United Nations is aiming to shed light on global issues surrounding food safety by hosting its first ever art exhibit titled We Are What We Eat. Showcased at the headquarters in New York, works from artists Liu Bolin (China), Edward Burtynsky (Canada), Jim Draper (United States), Pepe López (Venezuela) and Vik Muniz (Brazil) will be featured to hone in on concepts such as malnutrition, population growth and food technology, among others. Aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2, the exhibit will emphasize the need for sustainable agriculture, along with access to enhanced nutrition via education and activism. Additionally, artist Liu Bolin will be named Global Ambassador to the UN for his efforts on increasing social awareness.
The artwork above highlights Liu’s Mask series, which uses traditional Peking Opera masks to comment on the commercialized values of society, along with his illustrious Hiding In The City works, which this time finds him camouflaged in a supermarket display to juxtapose the difference between fresh vegetables and the packaging of processed foods. We Are What We Eat will be on view from April 30-June 30, 2016.
