Our History

Aristotle once wrote, “The soul never thinks without an image”, this statement resonated with us and succinctly embodied the power and ability that art has to unite, ignite passion and raise awareness to stimulate consciousness. This single statement acted as the catalyst for the creation of an organization that fosters, promotes, appreciates and creates a socially conscious dialogue around contemporary art.

The Art For Thought foundation came to fruition in 2015 by a collaborative group of likeminded individuals, in order to create a platform of socially conscious art exhibitions and special programs. In mid-2016, AFT launched its inaugural exhibition and corresponding catalog “We Are What We Eat” at one of the highest platforms for global and social awareness: the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The “We Are What We Eat” exhibition was developed in conjunction with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2, to highlight the need for global food security through sustainable agricultural practices, and improved nutrition through activism and education.
